LAWTELL THE ART CAT - Tridacna III

It’s me, Lawtell! Your favorite feline art expert. At least I hope so. How many feline art experts do you know exactly? See, I’m one of a kind. And so is the painting I have here for you. It does share subject matter with a couple other Malaysian giant clam paintings. This one makes me think of rippling satin with intricate colored patterns.

And this painting has the added effect of being altered by submersion. Like many of her paintings, it hung in my human’s studio that was flooded for a couple weeks after Hurricane Katrina. It’s a painting of an undersea resident that was itself under water. Happily, I wasn’t around at the time! I think the end result of all that time underwater is most interesting. You can see where the clam’s little lavender mouth is. Well, the wet canvas drying on its stretchers caused it to rip and create two more mouths, near the first one. Sounds great to me! I could eat three times as much at once.

Just roll over the image of the painting above, and you can see my one little mouth hard at work with my tongue licking my chops. All this talk of mouths makes me hungry. Most things make me hungry. More chicken, please!

Down below you can see a short video of my own self. It’s an avant garde art film, titled “Eat 2.” Inspired by Warhol’s film called “Eat,” of course. I think I attack my food with a lot more panache than that Robert Indiana does. Truth be told, even his cat doesn’t save him from being boring. I never want to be boring, so I’ve revved things up a bit. AND I have a soundtrack!

Sincerely meow,
