LAWTELL THE ART CAT - Orange Plumose Anemone

Orange Plumose Anemone
24″x20″oil on canvas by Dona Simons

Roll over, or touch (if on your phone), the image above

Greetings Earthlings, Lawtell here. I’m a visitor from Planet Feline and I’ve come to bring you this out of this world painting. It looks to me like a flower from outer space. Or maybe a frilly chiffon nightgown trimmed with feathers. What it really is is a sea anemone from the Pacific Northwest. That word, anemone, comes from Greek meaning “wind flower.” I guess that’s because when it waves around in the ocean currents it looks like it’s being blown by the wind. How many roads must a man walk down … I digress.

This pretty baby uses its looks to great effect, to lure unsuspecting little sea creatures right into its waiting mouth. Pity that my own good looks don’t mesmerize birds and lizards. Just roll over the painting image above to see my fabulous self.

We cool, we verra verra cool, me and my vintage haute couture. Matches the vibe of this flowery citrusy bon bon of a sea anemone. Move over Jackie O and Princess Di. I’m a style icon for the ages. Modest too. I think my ostrich feather chapeau is way better than any leopardskin pillbox hat, don’t you?

Down below you can see a short animation that uses this and one other painting to show what this anemone looks like when open and closed.

How can you resist letting the explosion of color that is this painting liven up your own four walls? Anything less is just drab.

Sincerely meow,
Lawtell the Art Cat
